Asia Pacific Poker TourThe Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) recently announced a new schedule for its Season 9 Macau stop which is scheduled to take place between the 20th-31st of May 2015. The new schedule which was initially pushed back a week from the earlier announced dates will be held over a 12 day period and take place at the City of Dreams casino at the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room.

Macau’s casino industry has been going through a torrid time since early 2014 due to the anti-corruption crackdown by the Chinese government and the casino industry has lost more than $100 billion during the last 12 months. Macau’s casinos will be looking to capitalize from the influx of poker players and tourists that they APPT will bring.

PokerStars, the biggest online poker website in the world will be sponsoring the tournament and will commence online satellites on the 16th of March for the APPT Macau Main Event. The tournament is scheduled to end with the APPT Macau Main Event that has a buy-in for HKD $25,000 which is around $3,200.

APPT President Danny McDonagh said he was excited about the APPT Macau stop and the new changes to the event. In a statement, McDonagh said

It’s a must-play tournament on the PokerStars Asia circuit. APPT Macau is deep and rich in history and represents the tour’s longest running annual event. We’ve made some exciting changes by adding a HK$50,000 event and now running the HK$100,000 High Roller with two rebuys.

PokerStars has confirmed that it will send a strong team to represent the brand at the APPT Macau stop. Some of the pros from Team PokerStars who have confirmed their attendance include Vivian Im the former APPT Cebu champion, Kosei Ichinose, Aditya Argawal, Bryan Huang and Celina Lin. Team PokerStars Online Pro Randy Lew who won the APPT Macau event in 2011 will most likely make a return to see if he can win the tournament again.

Apart from the Main Event, the APPT will also feature a number of exciting events such as APPT Macau Warm-up MEGA Satellite (10 Seat Guarantee) that has a buy-in for HKD$1,000; 4 – APPT Macau Warm-up ($1,000,000 Guarantee) [2-day event] with a buy-in for HKD$ 5,000; Main Event MEGA Satellite (10 Seat Guarantee) with a buy-in for HKD$ 3,500 and the High Roller Satellite with a buy-in for HKD$14,000.
