Daniel Negreanu And Vanessa SelbstThe poker industry has always focused on giving back to charities and NGO’s and a number of poker players have embraced the concept of raising money for charity. Poker hall of famer Daniel Negreanu and Vanessa Selbst have recently pledged their support in attending a charity poker tournament in New York City that will raise funds for the Urban Justice Center (UJC).

The Urban Justice Center is one of the most popular legal service organizations in New York and helped thousands of individuals over the last 30 years who were unable to legally defend themselves. UJC offers a number of services such as systemic advocacy, direct legal service, political organizing and community education to assist New Yorkers in need. The UJC team visit soup kitchens to provide in-person legal advice, assist the homeless to find community education and teach them the process of filing class action lawsuits in case they have been exploited.

Daniel Negreanu and Vanessa Selbst will headline the “Blinds & Justice” charity tournament and all the proceeds will go to the UJC. The main prize for the “Blinds & Justice” charity tournament includes a trip to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure which will be held in January 2016. The package includes tickets to the Bahamas, a buy-in to the $10,000 main event and a 9 night stay at the Atlantis Resort.

Speaking about the charity tournament and the role that UJC has played for the last 30 years, Vanessa Selbst said

I’ve attended a lot of charity poker events and have always had so much fun, so I’m excited to finally organize and host one of my own. The Urban Justice Center is comprised of innovative people who do fantastic and absolutely necessary work, so I can’t think of a better beneficiary for the first major poker tournament for social justice. With top pros in attendance, food and drink aplenty, and a PCA package up for grabs, this is going to be one you won’t want to miss!

Vanessa Selbst has won over $10.6 million in career prize money making her the top female poker player in history. She had asked Daniel Negreanu to attend the charity poker event in order to help raise more funds for UJC. Negreanu has won over $30.5 million in career prize money and was more than happy to agree to Vanessa’s Selbst request and help raise funds for UJC.
