Global Poker IndexThe Global Poker Index (GPI) is a brand that stands out in the international poker community because it ranks poker players from across the world that participated in live poker tournaments. The company recently announced that it planned to launch a Global Poker League that would look to change the perception of poker as just a game and turn it into a competitive sport.

The GPI also announced that it planned to launch for the first time the American Poker Awards (APA) to promote poker and the GPI brand all over the U.S.

The APA is scheduled to take place on the 27th of Feb 2015 in Beverly Hills, CA at the SLS Hotel. The APA will take place during the Global Poker Conference which brings together all of the top poker companies in the world.

Alex Dreyfus, the CEO of the Global Poker Index felt that the Global Poker Conference would be an ideal platform to launch the APA. The Global Poker Conference is arguably one of the most popular poker conferences in the world where the latest trends, technology and strategies in the poker industry are discussed and debated. The event is fast paced, serious and well attended making it a great launching pad for the APA.

Dreyfus believes that the APA will not only increase the popularity of poker in the U.S but also promote the game on a global level. In a statement, Dreyfus said the APA

will lead into our awards ceremony and give players, industry thought leaders, poker media, and industry operators a forum to connect and discuss the future of the live poker ecosystem.

There will be a lot of technical topics discussed before the APA award ceremony gets started. Some of the topics to be discussed include

increase revenues and maximize player loyalty with innovations in live poker room technology and management; leveraging ideas for the poker industry and the online and brick-and-mortar poker room ecosystem.

The awards ceremony will feature a panel of experts who will judge the winners for 14 different types of awards. Some of these awards include the Rookie of the Year, Female Poker Player of the Year, the winner of the GPI-owned Challenger Cup and the Poker Player of the Year.

The GPI will also house the European Poker Awards (EPA) which will take place during the EPT Malta which is scheduled to be held in March 2015 at the Hilton Hotel in St. Julians, Malta.
