Ultimate GamingIt wasn’t too long ago when online gambling companies were battling it out to launch online poker operations in New Jersey. Ultimate Gaming operates the Ultimate Poker website successfully managed to get a license from the state of New Jersey but things did not go as planned. The company recently announced that it would wind up both online poker and casino operations in New Jersey shortly.

Ultimate Poker was the first online poker website to launch in Nevada and despite the challenges and player complaints, Ultimate Poker fought hard to stay afloat and has plans to expand and scale operations in Nevada.

However, in the garden state, Ultimate Gaming had a number of issues to deal with, the most important one being the lack of a good land based casino to partner with. The state of New Jersey had made it mandatory for online poker websites to partner with land based casinos before launching operations.

Ultimate Gaming initially partnered with the Trump Taj Mahal but based on reports that Taj Mahal will soon close its doors, leaving Ultimate Gaming without a land based partner. Apart from this, the New Jersey market appears to be saturated with lower player traffic and stiff competition from other online gambling companies.

The decision to shutdown operations in New Jersey will in no way affect online poker operations in Nevada. In a statement, Tom Breitling, Chairman of Ultimate Gaming said

We are grateful to the State of New Jersey and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement for allowing us to be one of the first companies to bring online gaming to the citizens of New Jersey and appreciate their leadership as one of the first states to allow online gaming.

Ultimate Gaming has out a notice to New Jersey online poker players with instructions on how they can cash out funds from the ultimate poker website. Accounts will remain active till the 5th of October and players are advised to withdraw their funds as usual before the 28th of September. Those players who do not withdraw their funds before the 28th of Sep, with then have to wait for Ultimate Gaming to directly refund their balances to the address listed on the account. After the 5th of October, players will no longer be able to access their account.

Breitling went on to assure New Jersey players that they will receive all outstanding amounts as Ultimate Gaming was working closely with the Division of Gaming Enforcement to ensure there was a smooth winding up process.
