The World Series of Poker, by far the most reputed and famous poker tournament in the entire world, recently kicked off to a great start in Las Vegas.
This year, the poker tour will feature 61 WSOP bracelet events and this has the entire poker community very excited.
The WSOP 2012 began with a gold bracelet event which saw over 2000 poker professionals competing at a buy-in of $1,500.
Players were given $5000 of playing money for the amount of the buy-in.
However, this amount was not for cashing in but rather to keep players in the game by giving them some funds to keep them viable through the course of the first event which will go on for 3 days. This year the World Series of Poker is being held at the Rio Casino and Hotel and is expected to draw tens of thousands of poker fans to watch the games.
The World Series of Poker will also be featuring 61 bracelets up for grabs and will be offering millions of dollars in prize money and is sure to attract the cream of the poker world. Some of the top poker professionals that already have been seen participating in the event include the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Allen Cunningham and Phil Ivey. Another interesting factor about this year’s World Series of Poker is that it will be featuring specially redesigned gold bracelets that have been “blinged” up to look more attractive and represent the spirit of the WSOP.
The winner of the first WSOP event will get the first gold bling bracelet. It must be noted that only the first 10 players on the leader board of the event will get cash prizes.
Seth Palansky, a spokesperson for the WSOP commented on the large number of male poker players.
“The stamina required to play through all the rounds tends to draw young male participants. They are making it hard for the older players,”
Another exciting feature of the World Series of Poker is that it will be hosting a special poker event with a $1 million buy-in. This means that players will have to spend that much just to enter – it is an exclusive high roller poker event. The first place prize is expected to be a minimum of
$12 million as there are already 40 participants lined up to enter this event.
