Bally Technologies, one of the most long standing and well reputed gaming companies in the United States, may soon become the first ever online gaming company to be legally licensed by the US authorities.

So far, Bally Technologies has only got the preliminary approval from the Gaming Control Board in Nevada. If this goes all the way through, it will pave the way for legal and licensed online gambling in America. Bally is a provider of gambling equipment and got a full approval from the board. Mark Lipparelli, the chairman of the Board, described it as “another step forward but it’s not the last.”

According to reports, many casinos – about 50 of them based in Nevada – are interested in getting their gambling supplies from Bally. However, according to the existing federal laws being instituted in Nevada, online gambling will only be permitted inside the state and players will have to be 21 years of age to have a go at the games.

It now remains to be seen, what the move with Bally will cause other companies and other states to do. However, one thing is certain, most in the US gambling community believe that this is a step forward in the direction of legalizing online gambling.
