Maryland Live! Casino has announced that it will hold the first edition of its $1 Million Live Poker Classic, a tournament series, from March 10 – 24.
Maryland Live! Casino’s live poker room, which was launched in August 2013, has become very popular among poker players along the East Coast. The $1 Million Live Poker Classic is scheduled to be a live tournament series comprising nine lucrative events. It is reported to be the biggest live poker event to be held at the venue as it will give away a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million over a period of two weeks.
The highlight of the event will be the $400k Guaranteed $3,500 Buy-in NL Hold’em Main Event, which will start on March 21.
Speaking about the event, Maryland Live Casino Director of Poker Operations Mike Smith said:
The poker room at Maryland Live! has enjoyed terrific success since opening last August. We have welcomed poker players from all over the country, both professional and amateur, who bring with them the demand for a poker tournament series of this caliber. We are so thrilled to introduce the first $1 Million Live! Poker Classic.
He further said that the casinos poker customers had been requesting a tournament series for a long time as they are eager to play at the live poker room. Expressing hopes that the field will comprise more local players, he said,
We’re hoping to keep it regional. If we marketed this nationally, the biggest nightmare would be that the tables would be filled and too many people would get shut out.
Each event has only limited seats.
The $1 Million Live Poker Classic comprises the following events: the $550 NL Hold’em $225k
Guaranteed on March 10, the $150 NL Hold’em Bounty $20k Guaranteed on March 13, the $1,100 NL Hold’em $100k Guaranteed on March 14, the $550 NL Hold’em $75k Guaranteed on March 17, the $1,600 NL Hold’em Bounty $100k Guaranteed on March 18, the $350 PL Omaha Bounty $10k Guaranteed on March 19, the $1,100 NL Hold’em Six Max $50k Guaranteed on March 20; the $150 NL Hold’em Bounty $20k Guaranteed on March 20, and the $3,500 NL Hold’em $400k Guaranteed on March 21.
The live poker room at Maryland Live! Casino is the busiest card room in the country, second only to Commerce Casino in Los Angeles. The waiting lists get larger during the peak hours, on holidays and at weekends.
