poker-centralPoker Central, the first ever 24/7 poker TV network which is scheduled to launch before the end of this year is doing a lot of promotional events in order to establish its brand in the market. The company recently announced that it would be hosting a Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on the 27th and 28th of June 2015.

Some of the biggest names on the poker circuit along with popular Hollywood celebrities are scheduled to take part in the Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout which will be based on a winner takes all format and comes with a $1 million prize. The tournament will require the poker pros to play against each other until one player is left and the celebrities will have to follow the same format. In the end, the final poker player will compete in a best of three, heads up showdown against the final celebrity to determine who will be the eventual winner.

Some of the professional poker players who will participate in the event include Antonio Esfandiari, Doyle Brunson, Vanessa Selbst, Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu while the celebrities confirmed for the event include Brad Garrett, Don Cheadle, Kevin Pollak, Hank Azaria and Norm Macdonald.

In a statement, Antonio Esfandiari said

I’m excited to play. High Stakes Poker was, I think, the most popular poker TV shows in the history of poker TV shows, and in a way this feels like HSP. It’s a televised cash game with decent sized blinds and an ante, and so I think there should be a lot of action. Given that, I’m pretty excited to play, but I’m also pretty excited for poker, to sort of bring back the big TV cash game

NBC Sports Network will tape the Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout and then go on to air the event for three consecutive weeks. The first episode of the show will telecast on the 29th of July at 9:00 p.m. EST.

As soon as the Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout is completed, the ARIA Resort & Casino will host the 2015 Super High Roller Series which has a popular Super High Roller Bowl event that has a $500,000 buy-in and has already registered 50 players. The eventual winner will walk away with over $8 million dollars. ARIA has included an interesting stipulation for the event stating that poker players will not be allowed to wear sunglasses at the table.
