Dave UlliottLegendary poker pro Dave Ulliott better known as ‘Devilfish’ passed away last year after a battle with cancer. Devilfish is being honored with a special tournament dedicated to him called The Devilfish Cup.

The inaugural tournament will have a £1 million guarantee and will begin on October 31, 2016 and will be held as a part of the World Poker Tour UK festival at the Dusk Till Dawn casino located in Nottingham. partypoker, the WPT Foundation and Dusk Till Dawn have collaborated to host the inaugural edition of the Devilfish cup.

In a statement, Adam Pliska, President and CEO of the World Poker Tour, said,

We are proud to announce the Devilfish Cup for the partypoker WPT UK festival at Dusk Till Dawn, and to honor and celebrate Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott alongside his family, friends, and fellow competitors. As a testament to the community’s dedication and contributions, WPT Foundation has helped raise more than $6 million to date, and we look forward to supporting another non-profit program of excellence in Marie Curie.

Simon Trumper, Director Dusk Till Dawn and close friend of Ulliott said that the idea for the Cup came about when Rob Yong, owner of Dusk Till Dawn visited Dave and asked him how Dave would like to be remembered. Dave responded by asking for a high roller event to be held in his name at the club, as Dave was very proud of his WPT Tunica win. In keeping with his request, the casino decided to replace the high roller event in this year’s edition of the WPT festival with special event dedicated to him, naming it the Devilfish Cup. Dusk Till Dawn is also honoring the celebrated poker player by renaming their bar ‘The Devilfish’ in his memory.

The buy-in for the Devilfish Cup is at £5,000 plus an additional £300 as a donation. All donations collected along with three percent of the guaranteed prize pool of £1 million will be split between the Marie Curie charity and a trust fund that is being created for Lucy, Ulliott’s youngest daughter who will receive the funds when she turns 16.

Ulliott’s wife, Anpaktita Ulliott will be presenting the champion of the Devilfish Cup with a special trophy to commemorate the event. partypoker which is a sponsor of the event is planning to hold satellites for the Cup on its site. The schedule for the satellites will be released once finalized.
