Pokerstars - Latin American Poker TourAs the year comes to an end, most poker players are relaxing, enjoying the holiday season and taking a break from poker.

However, as the new year approaches, poker players from across the world will be checking out tournament schedules on the internet and marking down dates in their calendar.

In a statement, LAPT President David Carrion said

Season 6 was LAPT’s best ever, with the number of unique players growing at a dramatic rate by any standards in the world. We are committed to maintaining our re-entry proposal, along with improvements in the overall schedule after taking into consideration player feedback. Our partners are committed to the festivals, and players are enjoying the repeated stops and similar dates. We have high expectations to continue to deliver an accessible tour with large fields and strong prize pools, always under the umbrella of superb service and authentic poker.

PokerStars.net recently released the schedule for Season 7 of its Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT), which will take place throughout 2014. The first two tournaments on the LAPT schedule is the Chile, Viña del Mar event that takes place between 19th to the 23rd at the Enjoy Casino and Resort and has a buyin for $1,550 + $150. The second tournament is the LAPT/BSOP Brazil, São Paulo which will take place between the 30th of May to the 3rdat the Holiday Inn Anhembi and will have a buyin for R$3,910 + R$490.

LAPT Tournament Director Michael Ward said

LAPT 7 is going to be more exciting than ever. We have added a $500 NLH Freeze-Out event with 30-minute levels, as well as a $500 NLH Deep Stack Turbo with a single re-entry to this season’s line-up. We have also standardized all main event buy-ins across the year at $1,700, except for the Grand Final at $3,000, and raised the buy-in of the NLH unlimited re-entry events from $500 to $1,100. I hope that our regular players enjoy the improvements in the schedule and that we attract even more new ones.

Those players who are familiar with the LAPT will find that the tour has a new feature in Season 7. The latest addition to the LAPT is the special Brazilian stop between the 30th of May and the from May 30-June 3, 2014. This event is special because the LAPT has decided to collaborate with the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) to run a co-branded festival.
