Boris BeckerThe poker industry across the globe has been growing at an extremely rapid pace and competition has never been fiercer. Gambling companies across the world are under constant pressure to innovate and come up with innovative promotions, strategies and events that appeal to a global audience.

Recognizing this constant need to innovate and promote effective, The Global Poker Index announced that it had teamed up with tennis legend and grand slam winner Boris Becker. Becker who is a former world number one player loves playing poker and has now joined the GPI to promote their brand and bridge the gap between sports and poker.

There are a number of sportsmen who have taken up playing poker. From the world of tennis, Rafael Nadal and Boris Becker are the two biggest celebrities who have started playing poker. In a statement, Boris Becker said

There are a lot of similarities between tennis and poker. Players are required to make good decisions at the most opportune times in each game. Tennis rankings have been instrumental in turning tennis players into superstars recognized the world over, I hope to be able to help do the same for poker and poker players.

The Global Poker Index and The Hendon Mob have more than 290,000 live poker player profiles and a collection of over 120,000 tournament results. This makes the GPI a hub for poker related information and a number of poker players and enthusiasts use the GPI on a regular basis. Both websites integrate well with each other and also provide breaking poker news, fantasy poker and casino listings.
