Hedge-fund manager and high stakes player Bill Perkins has taken an interesting route to promote his Twitch channel and engage with fellow poker lovers.
Over the past few Twitch sessions, he has been giving away PokerStars Championship Bahamas packages to lucky players joining his broadcast. Perkins said that he was inspired to do the giveaway in order to give micro-grinders a taste of the high-flier life.
In a statement Bill Perkins said
The way I look at poker is it's kind of a lifestyle. It's not just grinding and a job, it's also traveling to places, meeting people, having fun and playing in a competitive…I'm going to call it a sport. Most of them are playing for a lot smaller stakes, so giving them $1,500 in buy-ins allows them to have that experience. I thought it was just a great thing to do.
Initially he had wanted to stake a few of the players for the Bahamas tour, but later he dropped the idea since the financial aspect became too complicated. He then decided giveaway PokerStars Championship Bahamas packages which includes airfare, accommodation and tournament buy-ins worth $1,500.
Under the plan, poker fans who win these packages at his Twitch sessions will be a part of Team Perkins and would have a chance to play high-stakes poker at Bahamas. In all Perkins has given away 15 such packages. Perkins’ Twitch channel is a window into his lifestyle. He streams his high-stakes cash games from his yacht and makes it a fun experience for his viewers. Poker superfans and micro-grinders form bulk of his followers.
The package winners include amateur players like Dan Jones, from London who was featured recently on PokerStars’ blog. He was a unique winner since after failing to land any of package giveaways, he succeeded at the last opportunity for winning a package.
As a last offer, Perkins said that he would give a final package to anyone who posted the funniest comment on his girlfriend’s Instagram page. Jones posted a picture of himself imitating one of the photos posted by Perkins’ girlfriend, which got him the package.

Perkins said that he wanted the players to have fun in the trip and go back having regained passion for either the game or for travel. In addition to this exciting offer, Perkins who is well-known for his outrageous side bets and challenges is also thinking up props for the Bahamas tour as is the norm for him.
