Myroslaw WorochNevada and New Jersey officially legalized online gambling in 2013 and while initial reports suggested a slowdown in online poker traffic, the recently publicity covering New Jersey’s Next Poker Millionaire is sure to stir the interest of online poker lovers who live in the state.

Myroslaw Woroch was taking part in a high profile online tournament which was also the first ever New Jersey’s Next Poker Millionaire tournament. This online tournament entered its final stage on the 2nd of Feb at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa where the final round was televised live. Woroch who plays under the online screen name “onetime99” is not a professional poker player and has never made it big, until he decided to take part in New Jersey’s Next Poker Millionaire.

Having won only $7,000 so far in his online poker exploits, Woroch would have been out of this world when he realized that he had flopped a straight in the definitive hand against Steven Edwards, his opponent. This meant that Woroch was now officially the newest millionaire in New Jersey.

In a statement, Woroch said

It was truly a surreal experience when I knew that I had him beat. When that final card came out my emotions were just running wild; I have to thank BorgataPoker.com for putting on this awesome tournament and the Poker Players Alliance for bringing poker back to the United States.

Woroch who is 40 years old, certainly had to work hard to reach the finale. He managed to entered the Next Poker Millionaire Semi-Final via a BorgataPoker.com 1 Point Entry Tournament on December 19th 2013. He then faced stiff competition from a large player field that was in excess of 2,000. On the 5th of Jan 2014, Woroch worked his way through the entire list and finally secured a place for the main event which took place at the Borgata.

Borgata Director of Poker Operations Vince Alonge said

New Jersey’s Next Poker Millionaire signifies a historic event in the evolution of internet gaming. We are ecstatic to be able to offer our online community the opportunity to compete for a million dollar prize package here at Borgata, especially in a tournament of this magnitude

Woroch also received a very special dream poker package that granted him a WPT Alpha 8 super high roller seat, two entries into $3,500 WPT events held at Borgata, a WPT World Championship seat, $8,000 in live tournament entries at Borgata and 52 tournament entries into the online Sunday $50K event.
