Gustawa, a woman poker player at PokerStars from the Czech Republic, finished first in the Women’s Sunday Tournament recently and won a prize of $2,259.83.

PokerStars runs online poker tournaments for women every Sunday, but the Women’s Sunday Tournament at PokerStars held this Sunday was a special event because it coincided with Mother’s Day. The tournament gave women fond of online poker a chance to have fun playing poker on their special day and win some great cash prizes.

Of the total number of 221 players who took part in this online poker event, 36 ended up winning a share of a total prize pool of $11,050.

During the first hour of the tournament, Ana Marquez and Vanessa Selbst, both members of Team PokerStars Pro, had to quit the player field one after the other. Fatima Moreira was the only Team PokerStars Pro left playing in the field.

Exactly two and a half hours after the tournament commenced, the money bubble burst, and $Turbo Pandi had to leave the table, leaving just 36 players playing for their share of the prize pool, and Snail2009 was the first of them to win a cash prize of $82.87.

Team PokerStars Pro Fatima left the table when she was in the 18th place, winning a cash prize of $121.55. Ira_161, the player who defeated her, won the bounty prize of $50.

It cannot be denied that poker plays a very important role in the lives of some women although they have to work hard to strike a balance between poker and daily life. Although most women preferred to spend their special day with their family some of them decided to take part in the PokerStars Women’s Sunday Tournament.

The final table comprised 9 female poker players—netti.S1984, Lexi4Bet, evjersen, patawkubakia, chelle_can, JulieBRIGHT, O-oMopsi, Ira_161, and Gustawa. Gustawa, who got the ninth seat, was the chip leader among the finalists, holding 232,146 chips. When the tournament became a heads-up match between JulieBRIGHT and Gustawa, things had changed and JulieBRIGHT had become the chip leader. The situation, however, slowly turned in favor of Gustawa, who finished first and won a cool prize of $2,259.83, while JulieBRIGHT finished second and rose from the table richer by $1,657.50.

The players who finished fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth were evjersen, Ira_161, chelle_can, Lexi4Bet, patawkubakia, O_o Mopsi, and netti.S1984, respectively.
