Jason SomervilleThe 47th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) is expected to commence at the Rio casino in Las Vegas at the end of the month. The WSOP is expected to draw thousands of poker players from all over the world as well as numerous poker fans.

Poker lovers who are visiting Nevada do not have to wait for the WSOP to commence to enjoy some poker action as there’s something special scheduled to take place in Reno, Nevada. Jason Somerville's 2016 Run It Up Reno (RIU) is being held at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino between May 24 and 30.

The six-day festival is highlighted by the $565 Main Event offering an exciting $150,000 as guaranteed prize pool. The event has three starting flights, one on May 27 and the remaining two on May 28.

Apart from the Main Event, there are 16 other key events with a variety of buy-ins ranging from $85 to $235. Some of these include $235 Tuesday Take Off, $235 Thursday Thrilla, $125 Stud Club Championship, $125 6-max Ante-only NLHE and $85 NLHE Big Antes (Turbo). Championship Trophies will be handed out in 15 of these events to the lucky winners. Additionally Main Event tickets worth $565 will be awarded to the final player standing who will be wearing official RIU gear in these 15 events.

The casino will also be holding a large variety of cash games throughout the festival on all days for poker enthusiasts. All games in the festival will be made 8-handed as soon as possible by the organizers and blind levels will be escalating over rounds. In addition to the tournaments, a poker seminar hosted by Jason Somerville has been scheduled on May 26 at 12 p.m. for those interested to know more about the poker industry.

The poker festival also provides ample opportunity for interaction with poker stars. Rob Cesternino of the award-winning podcast series Rob Has a Podcast will be broadcasting live from the venue, featuring interviews with special guests. The festival also includes hangouts scheduled with poker celebrities for a couple of days during the festival. In-depth coverage of the festival will be provided by PokerNews.

RIU has included a couple of fun events as a part of the festival as well. A Turkey Burger Welcome Party is to be held on May 24 and will kick off the festival while a Karaoke Party is scheduled for May 25 at EDGENightclub. A Magic the Gathering Draft Night is also planned.
