The Poker community is just coming to grips with the death of German Poker pro Johannes Strassmann, who was found dead in Slovenia on the 28th of June. Now, it looks like the poker community will most likely lose another poker pro Chad Brown who is currently battling cancer.

Chad BrownA former actor, commentator and poker player, Chad Brown was extremely well known, liked and respected in the poker community. He has been battling cancer for a lengthy period of time and has undergone 5 surgeries but the cancer has ravaged Brown’s body and currently put him in an end-of-life facility as the doctors say they have done their very best for Chad.

Brown is 52 years old and lives in Los Angeles, California and has had many successful appearances at the World Series of Poker where he always finished in the money but never managed to win an event or a WSOP Bracelet.

He made 10 final tables at the WSOP and in 2014, the WSOP recognized Brown for his overall contribution to the game of poker by giving him an honorary World Series of Poker bracelet. Brown also won the 2006 World Championship of Online Poker $5000 H.O.R.S.E. event which is considered to be one of the most popular online poker tournaments.

However, Brown’s biggest achievement was when he won $225,567 in 2009 at the Gulf Coast Poker Championship which was held at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Incidentally, Brown was also one of the official celebrity hosts for the same tournament along with Vanessa Rousso.

Even though Chad Brown is at end-of-life facility he still remains positive and continues to reach out via his Facebook and Twitter accounts to his friends and fans. Brown regularly posts updates about his condition and also encourages his followers to remain positive and stay strong despite the challenges they face in life.

Victor Ramdin, one of Brown’s friends said

What can I say about Chad. He is my friend. He’s struggling to fight this thing. He went to Mexico to try some alternative medicine but it didn’t work. Now they have moved him into hospice and they are trying holistic therapies to keep him comfortable and give him more time. He looks different, the cancer has eaten his body but he is still the same Chad. You can see the change in his appearance but he is still so sharp and aware and hopeful.
