The world’s biggest online poker site, PokerStars is set to offer U.S players some massive action as popular Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) will run across three states from March 17 to April 3 with $5 million in guaranteed prize money.
Michigan and New Jersey To Have Joint SCOOP
PokerStars has confirmed that for the first time it will run its popular SCOOP tournament on a single network across New Jersey and Michigan markets. In the past, PokerStars has run individual SCOOP tournaments for New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan markets.
The PokerStars SCOOP across the New Jersey and Michigan markets will offer a total of $3 million in guaranteed prize money while the PASCOOP edition in Pennsylvania will offer a $2 million guarantee, bringing the combined guarantee in prizes across the three states to a whopping $5 million.
The $3 million guaranteed prize for New Jersey and Michigan markets makes it the biggest guaranteed poker tournament for PokerStars in the United States. PokerStars is yet to release specific dates and events for the SCOOP tournament but has confirmed that more details will be made public in the next few days.
Based on previous SCOOP tournaments, we can expect PokerStars to once again offer three tiers of buy-ins to attract low stakes, mid-stakes and high stakes poker players. The average guarantee for SCOOP tournaments in the New Jersey and Michigan markets should be within the $250K to $300K range with buy-ins starting out around $10 and going up to $2,000.
Pennsylvania Will Continue With PASCOOP
Pennsylvania will continue to have its PASCOOP edition and a total of $2 million in prize money will be up for grabs. The 2023 PASCOOP edition will run on similar dates (March 17 to April 3). We expect the max guaranteed amounts for PASCOOP events to be around $200K.
The PASCOOP as well as the SCOOP tournaments for MI and NJ players will have Depositor Freerolls, Spin & Gos, Second Chance Freerolls and Leaderboards. We also expect PokerStars to bring back Mixed Events along with the Championship Trophy events. We will give you an update when PokerStars releases the full schedule of events for SCOOP.
