Towards the end of February, we reported on the first ever Unibet Online Poker Series (UOS) and all the hype surrounding it. The festival was to have 28 different events and run through from February 26 to March 11.

Reports about the event have seen it deemed as a “roaring success”, with the Unibet Poker team stating that final results from the series went far beyond their expectations. Each of the events in the series had three tiers – Nano, Low and High and came with a total guaranteed combined amount of €300k available in winnings.

It was the Main Event of the UOS that saw the biggest winner, naturally. This had a guaranteed prize of €100,000 to win, which some remarked was quite the ambitious move considering buy-ins were set at €100. It did turn out that this guarantee was just narrowly missed though, but the lower buy-ins of €25 and €1 for Main Events went on to almost double the guarantees that they held.

When it came down to it, the huge Main Event was won by the player known as ‘henrymorgan’, and he went on to claim a total of €17,600. Meanwhile, the winners of the €25 and the €1 Main Event buy-ins were rewarded with €3,473 and £340, respectively.

Other Results and Information

David Lappin – a familiar name amongst online poker players – was the one who went on to claim top positions of the High and Overall leader boards. Lappin – both a Unibet Ambassador as well as co-host of the podcast known as The Chip Race – won a combined total of €2,200 from the series and one of the nine seats to participate in the Battle of Champions taking place later this year. That event is set to be streamed live and will bring together the winners from four separate Unibet Online Series Leader Boards for 2018 as well as those from the Unibet Live tours.

After the success of this inaugural Online Series, it is now to become a regular occurrence at the poker room. Additionally, with such positive feedback coming from players and impressive figures relating to the gameplay itself, the Head of Poker for the Unibet site, David Pomroy stated that he was delighted about the uptake. In a statement, he further went on to say that while there were initial doubts about the guarantees that were set, the final result of such still exceeded anything they could have imagined.

As always, we’ve been fortunate to receive plenty of feedback from players…

he went on, remarking that Unibet Poker is already putting together its next event in the series. This one is set to take place between May 28 and June 11 this year. With the results of the first UOS, Pomroy says that the company can be “even more ambitious” when it comes to the follow up. He then went on to state that it’s great to be able to see the line-up for Battle of Champions starting to form.
