The World Series of Poker or WSOP as it is known, considered to be the world’s best poker tournament by the industry, recently announced that it would be awarding 5 gold bracelets in its events held during its Asia – Pacific Tour of Australia.

This announcement follows on the heels of an agreement forged between the WSOP and the Crown Melbourne in Australia to host the World Series of Poker in Melbourne, Australia.

The World Series of Poker has been in existence for over 42 years now and has hosted tournaments in cities all over the world.

However, Gold WSOP bracelets have only been awarded in certain cities. The cities to have hosted gold bracelet WSOP events are Las Vegas, Cannes and London. Melbourne will be the 4th city to join the ranks of these illustrious cities.

The Crown Melbourne is a reputed casino that hosts the Aussie Millions Poker Championship and is known to attract as many as 18 million gamblers on an annual basis. The Crown Melbourne is also reputed to have the largest poker room in the world apart from North America.

Greg Hawkins, the Chief Executive Officer of the Crown Melbourne appeared to be excited and optimistic about the WSOP 2013.

The agreement between the Crown Melbourne in Australia and the World Series of Poker will stand for several years and as per the deal, the WSOP 2013 will be held in Melbourne from the 4th of April up to the 15th of April 2013.

According to Ty Stewart, the Executive Director of the World Series of Poker,
