World Poker TourThe World Poker Tour (WPT) is one of the most popular events on the international poker calendar. The WPT recently announced that it would kick start Season XIV on the 1st of May with the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship which is scheduled to take place at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The event will run from the 1st of May to the 6th of May and will feature a CAD $3,500 buy-in WPT Main Tour event that has 2 starting flights that comes with a next day re-entry. Players who bag on Day 1a will also be able to play on Day 1b. In case they bag both, they will have to forfeit their smallest stack in such instances.

In a statement, WPT President Adam Pliska said

Alongside partypoker, the World Poker Tour is proud to kick off Season XIV at Playground Poker Club, a first-class property that offers an unparalleled level of hospitality to our players. In four WPT Main Tour events over three consecutive seasons, Playground has generated a combined prize pool of more than $10.5 million, and we look forward to yet another massive turnout this May.

Players who would like to sit in on the main event will be able to directly buy-in by going to www.playgroundpoker.ca and paying the buy-in fee. The buy-in registration is open 24 hours and players are encouraged to buy-in as early as possible. Players who would like to qualify for the main event can do so by playing the MegaWheel at the Playground website or seeing if they make the Tournament Leaderboard and finish within the top 3.

The Playground Poker Club will host a 16-event Playground Poker Spring Classic that is scheduled to start on the 19th of April and will feature a number of exciting events such as the a CAD $150 buy-in for the CAD $100,000 guaranteed event; a CAD $250 buy-in CAD $200,000 guarantee; The Wild $150; a CAD $1,000 buy-in WPT Warm Up and the new CAD $1,650 buy-in Second Chance.

There will also be a number of qualifying satellite events on the partypoker.net website. Every Sunday at 14:15 ET there will be a $500 buy-in partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship Satellite; a $5 buy-in WPT Canadian Spring Championship Sub Satellite Hyper Rebuy Qualifier and a $10 buy-in WPT Canadian Spring Championship Sub Satellite Rebuy Qualifier that will be held on a daily basis.
