- Match poker players will play the game in a unique format purely based on skill
- The app launches with Battle Royale as the flagship game type
- Players will soon compete in Olympic sport style with great learning opportunities along the way
Match Poker was created with the main goal of promoting poker as a sport, allowing players to play the game in a unique format that is purely skill-based.
Starting February 14, players will be able to put their skills to the test as the Match Poker Online app becomes available for download on both iOS and Android devices.
Match Poker follows the same rules as a regular No-Limit Texas Hold’em poker game. But contrary to the traditional format, you won’t just be competing with the other players at your table. Your main opponents are those at the other tables who are dealt the same hand as you from the same position. This eliminates the luck element of the game and makes it a pure test of skill.
The players’ skills are assessed via a world ranking system making the whole experience more fun and competitive.
Match Poker Online Launches with Battle Royale
On February 14, players can try out Match Poker’s flagship game type, Battle Royale. You’ll play against the other players at your table and try to win chips off them but you will be ranked based on how well you play compared to the players at the other tables who are in the same seat as you receiving the exact same cards.
If you get the highest score among all the other players who are dealt the same hand as you, you will survive elimination. If you get the lowest score, you’re out of the game.
The format offers a unique learning experience as players will be able to compare their strategy with other players, according to Jake Colman, Match Poker Online head of customer relations. In addition to that, the app is also equipped with plenty of features including one that records a player’s stats throughout the game, helping them become a better player.
Transforming Match Poker Into an Olympic Sport
Upon launch, Match Poker will divide the year into Premiership Seasons, and the winner of each season will receive a Premiership Trophy. In the future, Match Poker will organize national events with an aim of making it an Olympic sport. All events will be supervised by the International Federation of Match Poker (IFMP).
More features and game types will be added after the launch.
