Brett RicheyThe daily fantasy sports (DFS) industry is growing at a rapid pace in the United States and a number of poker players are paying a lot of attention to the industry as DFS companies from across the globe are looking to hire and sponsor poker pros who are willing to transition from poker to DFS.

Poker Pro Brett Richey has done reasonably well for himself during his poker career and has made over $1,379,172 in poker payouts. He has been runner up on two occasions at the World Series of Poker and has a good reputation on the circuit.

Richey hasn’t been very active on the poker circuit and that is because he has been spending most of his time on daily fantasy sports games.

Richey is now focusing his attention on BlitzPick, a mobile app that he created along with high stakes poker pro Eric Liu. The new BlitzPick app offers DFS games to DraftKings and FanDuel users and allows them to get real time news updates, make quality lineups and have a wide variety of games to choose.

DraftKings and FanDuel, the two biggest DFS websites in the business played no part in developing the app but Richey confirms that both companies have no problems with the app as it helps generate a lot of business for both companies. Richey confirmed that he is in contact with executives at both companies and both companies have been supportive of the BlitzPick app.

The app currently provides NFL games and will shortly release NBA games as well. The company is in the process of developing their MLB product and after this is completed, the focus will shift to the PGA, college basketball and football.

The DFS industry has come under a lot of legal scrutiny recently and states like Nevada and Montana have banned DFS websites stating that DFS games are equivalent of casino games and must have a gaming license to operate in the state. However, Richey states that these legal issues have not affected his mobile app.

In a statement, Richey said

BlitzPick hasn’t faced any scrutiny or backlash – we are just a helper tool for legal products – FanDuel and DraftKings. The response has been really positive, actually. A lot of people really wanted a tool like ours. Our lineup optimizer is fueled by some of the top projections sites (Pro Football Focus, Stats LLC, etc.), and then we incorporate elements of game theory and randomness so our users can create diverse sets of lineups that are filled with quality players
