World Series of Poker Asia PacificThe World Series of Poker is the most prestigious of all poker tournaments. With the growing rise of poker in Asia, the WSOP is going ahead with the 2nd edition of the WSOP Asia- Pacific events that are scheduled to take place between the 2nd and the 18th of October at the Crown Casino Melbourne, Australia. Those poker players who would like to take part in this event can now do so by registering online at the Crown Poker website.

The WSOP Asia Pacific main event will feature an AU$10,000 main event buy-in that will begin on the 12th of October and have two starting days.

The tournament will also feature a number of other side events that have low buy-ins starting from AU$1,100. There will be a total of 10 events scheduled during the tournament. The tournament is expected to draw some of the leading poker players from across the world. PokerNews confirmed that it will cover the entire tournament and provide real time updates via its website and social media accounts.

In a statement, Donnie Peters, the PokerNews Editor-in-Chief said

Last year saw five gold bracelets awarded Down Under, and five more have been added to the schedule for 2014.

This will without a doubt make the WSOP Asia-Pacific bigger and better by attracting more players and more big names to the festival. With poker superstars Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu amongst those to win gold last year, anticipation is high once again, and PokerNews couldn’t be happier to be the official live updates provider.

This year’s WSOP APAC will play a major role in deciding the leaders for the 2014 WSOP Player of the Year race. Negreanu won the main event in 2013 along with his 5th bracelet. He also won the 2013 WSOP and Card Player player of the year awards and currently stands in fourth place on the POY leaderboard for 2014. Negreanu will be eager to defend his championship at the Crown Melbourne and also move up the leaderboard. Brandon Shack-Harris and George Danzer are currently in first and second place on the leaderboard and will also be present at the event.

The main event and the High Roller event will also receive live TV coverage in Australia and the United States. Poker players who are interested in a complete schedule of events along with more information about the tournament, can visit the Crown Poker website.
