PokerStars, one of the most reputed online poker enterprises on the internet today, recently announced that they had launched a Spanish site called www.PokerStars.es.

Eric Hollreiser, a spokesperson for the poker room commented on this and stated,

“We are happy to confirm that PokerStars [has been] granted a license to operate in Spain and we plan to launch www.PokerStars.es on June 5. For now, Spanish players can continue to compete on www.PokerStars.com as normal and don’t need to take any action. As always, PokerStars is committed to providing players with a superior customer service, software and security. You can rest assured that your funds in this transition are totally safe and available. We will provide more details on the transition next week.”

The gambling company only recently secured its online poker license from the Spanish government and is now permitted to cater to the poker sector in the country. The poker site went live on June 5th and is now available to players. The company made an announcement regarding the same.

According to Gino Appiotti, who is PokerStars’ President of the Spanish sector of the licensed markets,

“Spain is a very important poker market and features some of the best players in the world. As the most popular online poker site in the world, we are very happy to provide the best variety of games, the safest and most secure online play and our world-class software to the market.”

Appiotti is also the President of the licensed sectors in Italy and France and was instrumental in pushing this set up forward. PokerStars was one of the first few online gambling establishments that was able to obtain a license from the government of Spain. PokerStars is a great online poker room that is known to host poker tourneys, poker games and exciting promotions that its members are sure to enjoy.

Juan Manuel Pastor, who is a poker professional in Team PokerStars Pro commented on the issue,

“I’m looking forward to playing on www.PokerStars.es and competing against players from across the country.”

Spain has set up rules for gambling operators and requires them to be licensed according to the regulations set up by their authorities. According to the new laws, Spanish poker players will only be able to gamble online with other players from the same region; these players will not be allowed to play against international poker players.
