Marvin Rettenmaier, a German poker player who is known for his strategy of winning small scores and lots of them to make up his winnings, is now in the top position to take home the title of the World Poker Tour.

It is the stage of the main championship event of the WPT and Marvin Rettenmaier is in the lead.

He already has over 6 million in chips and has an amazing head start over the second place winner who only has chips worth 2 million. Rettenmaier also stands to gain 1000 Player of the Year points.

Rettenmaier, one of the finest stars of the poker world, is also the newest member to join Party Poker’s bandwagon. A former Titan Poker player, Rettenmaier is a University graduate from London with degrees in management and business law. The 25 year old, who was born at Stuttgard, Germany, is an extremely skilled poker player. His nickname “Mad Marvin” is not much of a surprise for those who have seen him in the party circuit. Rettenmaier has showcased his talents to the world with earnings of over $1.7 million from tournaments since 2009. Known for beating his own past scores, Marvin has surpassed his older scores with last month’s victory through the €2,000 buy in playing No-Limit when he won $156,186.

In an interview, Marvin stated that he felt this move imminent and that it was a natural thing to be part of Party Poker. The player will join other Party Poker team members and promote the site with them. As they are the sponsored players of Party Poker, they will represent the company in tournaments worldwide.

‘Mad Marvin’ also holds six titles and one runner-up title in EPT No-Limit Hold-em in Deauville tournament in 2011. He has also played and won a third place at WPT and EPT Berlin.

Tara Scott, a Pro member at Party Poker commented on his joining the team.

“I am so stoked to welcome Marvin to Team Party Poker. He is a seriously talented poker player, which makes his addition no surprise at all.”

Scott further added,

“He is a friend and one of the most fun people to hang out with on the poker circuit. I am looking forward to many more nights of karaoke, ‘Mad Marvin’ style!”

Party Poker Pro member Tony G also commented on his new teammate,

“It is great to have Marvin on board. I have always said he is a player of true character. He needs my guiding hand. If anybody other than ‘my son’, John Eames, were to get a deal, it would have to be ‘Mad Marvin’.
