News reports from the Associated Press announced that the World Series of Poker 2012 was launching the world’s biggest poker tournament prize. This year, poker players will get the opportunity to play and win a chance of the largest poker prizes to be offered in US poker history. The poker prize is worth $12 million and more and the poker tourney event will feature a $1 million buy-in.

The poker prize amount is expected to skyrocket if more players get involved in the game. As of now, over 30 poker players have committed to joining this large poker event.

The tourney is called the One for One Drop and is scheduled to begin on the 1st of July. The event will be held in Las Vegas a usual, since it is a WSOP event. As of now, the first prize looks to be worth 12.3 million or so for the winning player and is sure to be one of the biggest wins when it happens.

This is a life changing poker event and the WSOP 2012 tourneys will be covered by ESPN and go live. What’s more, according to WSOP officials, the winner of the One for One Drop will also get a WSOP platinum bracelet.

One of the poker players expected to join the event is Eric Seidel, who has 8 WSOP poker gold bracelets to his credit. Surprisingly, on account of its large buy-in, the event is not just attracting poker professionals but also rich business men.

It has not been confirmed as to whether poker players like Daniel Negreanu or Tom Dwan will be joining the event, but they are sure to be very excited about the possibilities, especially since only 10 of the 30 players are actual poker pros, the rest being business men like Phil Ruffin and Guy Laliberte, the founder of Cirque du Soleil.

The WSOP officials have capped the event at 48 players, of which they now have 30.
