PokerStars, the biggest online poker website in the world recently announced the schedule for the Italian Poker Tour (IPT). The 7th Season of the IPT will stop in Malta between the 10th -28th of March; move to Saint Vincent between 30th July – 03rd August; go to Nova Gorica between 10th – 14th of Sep 10th and finally wind up in Saint Vincent between 12-16th November.
One of the most noticeable changes would be the absence of a stopover in Sanremo. Based on the feedback received from players during the 2014 edition of the tour, tournament organizers decided to skip Sanremo for this year’s. Last year players complained that the service and treatment from the casino were extremely poor and left then with an unpleasant experience. The IPT Season 7 scheduled was revealed by Luca Pagano who is a part of Team PokerStars.
Pagano stated that the live poker events hosted by PokerStars will focus more on quality instead of quantity and will look to provide players with a fantastic overall experience. In a statement, Luca Pagano said
We have reduced the number of events, but we have decided to increase the amount of work and the efforts that we dedicate to each one of them — and this will result in a greater offer of tournaments and cash games.
While PokerStars has dropped Sanremo from its tour schedule it has also opened a new poker room in the Casino de la Vallée in St. Vincent. The new room will open its doors on the 24th of April when it hosts the €100,000 guaranteed Mini IPT special event. The event is expected to draw some of the top poker players in Europe as St. Vincent is situated between the border of Switzerland and Italy.
The IPT Season 7 will recognize two Player of the Year Awards and will look to work closely with the Global Poker Index to manage its leaderboard and determine the top performing poker players in Europe.
Pagano has encouraged European Poker players to visit St Vincent and play at the Casino de la Vallée.
Alex Dreyfus, CEO of the Global Poker Index recently said
The GPI is proud of the cooperation established with the IPT, as this allows us to expand in the Southern European region together with a leader in the organization of live poker events”.
